On behalf of the Provost’s Office, Amy Conger directs the Global Engagement Team, a central service and consulting group for all academic units offering international programs. She works on campus-wide policies for education abroad (academic credit and co-curricular experiences) and international travel health and safety. She manages shared infrastructure for education abroad and domestic engaged learning (M-Compass, the University Travel Registry, global.umich.edu, and international programs reporting). Amy also supports international platforms for multidisciplinary research and student programs, as well as institutional partnerships and legal agreements for academic cooperation and student mobility.
Prior to joining the Provost’s Office, Amy was the Director of International Programs in the U-M College of Engineering, an Advisor to the Fulbright Commission for Educational Exchange in Belgium, and an English instructor in the U.S. and Mexico. She has taught ENGR 260: Engineering Across Cultures and ED 870: International and Comparative Higher Education. Amy earned her Ph.D. in Higher Education from the U-M, concentrating in comparative higher education and public policy. She earned her M.A. in Applied English Linguistics, Teaching Certification in English as a Second Language, and B.S. in Art and Design from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
